Meadows Music Center in Hartford Connecticut had issues inside and outside the venue this past summer.

Outside, in a parking lot not controlled by the venue a riot broke out as party people clashed with police. It wasn't the first time a riot has broken out in Hartford at a DMB show. In August of 1999 around fifty people were arrested and at least one car was flipped and set ablaze.

Inside the venue, frequent fetid drafts permeated the air. The Meadows Music Center is only about a mile away from the Hartford Landfill,as the crow flies. Local citizens have frequently complained about the smell that drifts out of the site when it is warm outside, despite the fact that it is covered by fresh dirt daily.

Dave Matthews took particular offense to the odor, and incorporated it into his Jimi Thing Scat. Jimi Thing scat's are borderline Davespeak because they occur during the song itself. They do contain clear comments from Dave, so its worth an occasional exception to include them scats as Davespeak.
