Con-Fusion Interview with Sam Erickson
Thank you to our friends at Con-Fusion, the Official Italian DMB Fan Club, for passing along this great interview they landed with Sam Erickson- the man behind the documentary Road to Big Whiskey (amongst many other DMB video greats). The documentary is familiar to many of us on this side of the world, but only recently got showings at Italian cinemas this month.
This interview was first published in the June edition of Italy's Buscadero Magazine.

"I am a chameleon and a social scientist. I love rock and roll music. I play guitar badly and extremely enthusiastically. I have a knack for hanging out with musicians and discovering their inner truth". This is how Sam Erickson, photographer, director and videomaker on the music scene for nearly twenty years, describes himself on his official website. "I can work with musicians of virtually any genre of music so long as there is some level on which I can relate to the artist and their tunes" he adds. To have proof of that, just check out some of the names he worked with, ranging from rock to hip hop, through country music: Steve Winwood, O.A.R., My Morning Jacket, Keith Urban, Good Charlotte and Nelly. But the deeper and longer lasting relationship is the one that ties him to the Dave Matthews Band.

Davespeak: Whatcha Thinking About?
"Wait a second! I got a question. Has anybody here...I'm not going to describe the picture, but I think it's out there, it's out there, thanks to wonderful digital era, of, I believe it's a Scottish man. I believe he's very happy. And, and just along the bottom it says, 'Whatcha thinking about?' That may be the funniest picture I've ever seen in my life. I sent that to everybody I know, including my mother! I was like, 'Everybody, everybody, everybody has to see this.' There's some, it was the funniest, I sent it across the ocean, like you gotta see this. Everyone's gotta see it. Whatcha thinking about?
Dave and Tim Do Canandaigua
One more show to add to the Summer Tour 2010! Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will perform July 6 at the Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center, in Canandaigua, NY.
2010 Summer Tour Opener

Prior to the tour, Twitter messages from Stefan Lessard left cryptic clues, but also got people wondering if this "was it" for the band. Thankfully, according to Dave Matthews, the band will reconvene in 2012. And the tour? Yeah, it's off to a pretty gnarly start.
Night 1 of Hartford, CT started off with a revelation- of John, The. JTR- a song that has not been played for 302 shows, opening the show sent shock waves through DMB fandom. Just a fluke? Hello Again, Busted Stuff, Kit Kam Jam and a new tune Break For It made sure fans knew- this ain't your ordinary opening night, kids.
DAVESPEAK: Dave Wants YOU!
Tell everybody that you know and then also tell them to tell everyone they know and then tell everybody that you don't know to text 2022...2. 20222, you text CHIMP to 20222, and then you just did a good thing! So if you feel like, if you did some shitty thing, you know, you did something shitty. Also for you, like, some for people who automatically do that because they're just like, 'That's awesome! CHIMP! 20222!

Special thanks to Dan (Dwill26) and Jeff for preparing and conducting this interview!
Think you know when the band is about to play Shotgun, Idea of You, Baby Blue or Squirm? Well, if Dave is holding a Veillette Gryphon 12 String, you just might be right. Fans have come to notice over the past few years, a fancy little guitar added to Dave’s extensive guitar arsenal and WDS has the full scoop.
Last week, we had the privilege of interviewing Joe Veillette, the craftsman behind this line of unique guitars. Find out where his idea for the designs originated, what famous musicians play his instruments and the story behind how he began building guitars for a living.
Davespeak: Tell Me About The Boogers!
"Would y'all tell me if I had a booger in my nose? That's a question you gotta ask a lotta people. My mom had a booger in her nose this morning. And I told her. There was this really pretty girl once when I was like thirteen and I was so in love with her. I can't remember her name, but I was in love with her.
