New Dave Matthews Band Album Delayed

New DMB ALbum Release DelayedFans were quick to jump on the news coming straight from Dave's mouth on February 18th that the new DMB album might be late.

Through his Twitter account, Dave wrote "The new album will probably be a little late." He continued by saying it's not due to slacking off by the boys though! "But not for a lack of effort. Work work work."

The official DMB website later confirmed this news by saying the revised date for release of the new album will be June 2nd, 2009. The original release date for the album was to coincide with the first date of their spring tour at Madison Square Garden on April 14th.

The delay will mean that the new tracks will likely still be performed at MSG.  This means the new songs will have a chance to evolve live for two full months before fans hear exactly how they were intended on the album.

This was the case for DMB's last studio album, Stand Up, where tracks were performed on the Australian tour months in advance of the album's official release on May 10th 2005.

According to the newly released summer tour dates, DMB will be on the east coast on June 2nd.  They'll be taking a few days off from performing between the Darien Lake and Boston tour dates. It would not be a surprise if they are heavily involved in publicity around the release of the album.

As of now, the album still has no title, and both the number and names of the songs are unknown.
