DMB Announces Mark Batson Producer on New Album

Mark Batson Announced as Producer on New DMB AlbumDave Matthews Band has announced that the new producer on their upcoming studio album release willl be Mark Batson

The choice of Batson follows in line with DMB bassist Stefan Lessard's comments in his July 7th, 2004 interview with WBCN's Cali. Batson has a long list of experiences both performing on and and producing tracks for popular pop and hip-hop artists.

Dave Matthews and Eddie VedderThis past Saturday, Dave Matthews played with Eddie Vedder of Pearl jam at The Showbox in Seattle, WA. The event was a private party for the recently married CEO of RealNetworks, Rob Glaser.

Eddie Vedder and Glaser are connected through mutual interest in the West Memphis Three. Glaser is no stranger to high profile friendships, Bill Gates hosted the bachelor party for his first wedding...

A Little History

In the early years of DMB the band allowed fans to draw directly from the soundboard in what was known as a "Bagby," (named for DMB's soundman Jeff Bagby). Unfortunatly the quality of these recordings helped create a market for bootlegging, and ultimatly the band disallowed soundboards in 1995.

November2.org Cuts New Video Featuring DMB Song

Dave And Willy Nelson at Farm AidThe November 2 Campaign has put together a new commercial featuring the Dave Matthews Band song The Stone.

Using their website November2.org as a launch pad, the group's goal is "to harness the energy and enthusiasm of new voters, whose participation could reinvigorate the face of the American political landscape."

November2.org involves over a 1000 non-profits spread across the country and has been linked directly from DMB's official website.

Farm Aid Brings Back Some Devil

Founder and President of Farm Aid, Willie NelsonFollowing a performance from legend Jerry Lee Lewis, Dave Matthews played a fan friendly solo setlist that included songs from Some Devil, a cover from the Dave and Friends tour and two unreleased songs.

One of the two unreleased tracks, Butterfly was teased repeatedly over the 2004 summer tour, including the recent 9/4 and 9/5 Gorge shows. This was only the fifth time Dave has performed the song live....(Continued)

Build You A House - New Lillywhite Sessions Leak

Build You A House LeakedIn what appears to be the second leak of the summer, the long anticipated leak of Build You A House (BYAH) has made it to the internet.

BYAH was recorded during the summer of 2000 along with Raven, JTR, and the other commonly known tracks from the original leak of the Lillywhites from March 24th, 2001.

Ever since the origonal spread of the Lillywhite Sessions, there have been rumors of a second disk of recordings. BYAH along with several alternate recordings... (Continued)

Carlos Santana Joins DMB at Golden Gate

Carlos Santana Plays with Dave Matthews BandFollowing a politically inspired scat from Dave in Jimi Thing, Mr. Carlos Santana joined DMB onstage for Warehouse, Sugar Will and All Along The Watchtower

In DMB's history, Santana has joined them onstage during a tour show just seven times. The last time Santana played with DMB was also in San Francisco--Pac Bell Park on May 18th, 2001.

Farm Aid Webcast Is A Go

Farm Aid 2004 WebcastThanks in part to voting and participation from readers of this site, the 2004 Farm Aid benefit concert featuring Dave Matthews will be broadcast via Webcast.

Since Farm Aid will feature Dave performing solo, it seems a particularly inviting occasion to perform songs off his solo album Some Devil. No songs from his solo album were played on the summer 2004 DMB tour.

In early August, a single track purposefully left off the studio release of Some Devil was leaked to the internet. Get the skinny on Cigarette Lit in our news section. (Continued)

Six Year Surprise: Tim Reynolds Joins DMB On Stage

Cigarette Lit Leaked

Dave Matthews Cigarette Lit Studio Release Leaked!The studio recording of the song "Cigarette Lit" from Dave's recent solo effort was leaked to the internet this morning. The song was to appear on the album Some Devil but was cut because Dave did not feel that it fit with the album

Previously this song was teased briefly by Dave in London on October 25th 2001 before the Stone....

Dave Matthews Band Joins John Kerry John Edwards Election CampaignThis morning Dave Matthews Band announced that it would be joining the Vote For Change Concert Tour for six dates in October. In the email from the Warehouse, they said: "We share a belief that this is the most important election of our liefetime. We are fighting for a govenrmnet that is open, rational, just and progressive.

The full tour includes 34 shows in 9 states and also features artists such as Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band...

Farm Aid 2004 Features Dave Matthews

Dave Matthews Plays 2004 Farm Aid ConcertThis morning the Dave Matthews Band official fan club, The Warehouse announced that Dave Matthews will play the 19th annual Farm Aid concert at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn, WA.

The history of Farm Aid

Founded in 1985 by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young, Farm Aid's mission is "to keep family farmers on their land."

The event started when Bob Dylan asked the audience at the 1985 Live Aid concert, "Wouldn't it be great if we did something for our own farmers right here in America?" The first show included performances from Billy Joel, B.B. King, Tom Petty and more...

Dave Matthews Band Announces San Francisco Performance

DMB Plays Golden Gate ParkThe official Dave Matthews Band fan association, The Warehouse has announced a special DMB performance on Sunday September 12th, 2004 at the Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA.

The event is a fundraiser for Bay Area charities addressing a variety of issues. Dave Matthews Band established the Bama Works Foundation to "carry out the band's commitment to charitable works, both close to home and world wide." A list of charities DMB has supported in the past is available online.

Tickets to the event are all General Admission...

Dr. Dre to co-produce new DMB album? JTR is DEAD.

RIP JTRSaratoga Springs, NY. -- WBCN Boston's Cali interviewed Dave Matthews Band Bassist Stefan Lessard backstage at SPAC on 7/7/04.

The entire 17 minute, 25 second interview covered a range of topics on DMB and Stefan's personal life, the most important interview highlights are broken up into individual mp3's and described below.

Stefan addresses boredom on the 2003 tour

In the 7/7/04 Stefan says that he "got real bored last year." This echoes the tone of Stefan's interview in 12/05/03. When Cali told him then that he felt the band was alive, he responded with surprise.

 

Napster Nabs Dave Matthews Band Song Catalog

Napster Nabs DMB Song CatalogLos Angesles CA. - Napster LLC. has captured the digital distribution rights to the entire Dave Matthews Band song catalog.

This is a strong departure from the previous setup for the digital distribution of DMB's Music. The DMB song catalog was available exclusively through the band's official website.

Dave Matthews Band Downloads were powered by Musictoday's digital download service. Music Today is a company owned by DMB manager Coran Capshaw.

The digital distribution of live Dave and Friends release Live at Bonnaroo 2004 and all other live Bonnaroo 2004 artists downloads are powered by musictoday and appear to be being distributed in cooperation with the privately held digital media distribution company Nugs.net.

Dave Matthews Plays for John Kerry Presidential Campaign

Uncle Dave Matthews Wants You!On July 8th, 2004 Dave Matthews will perform at Radio City Music Hall in support of the Presidential Candidate John Kerry. The event was originally scheduled for June 10th, (the night before the D+F performance,) but was postponed in honor of President Reagan's passing.

Various sources indicate that there will also be appearances from Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Whoopi Goldberg, Wyclef Jean, John Mellencamp, Bette Midler and Robin Williams.

Previously Dave appeared at a fundraiser for Howard Dean's presidential bid. At the end of his latest interview in Rolling Stone, (RS 940) Dave is quoted as saying...

New DMB Song: Hmm?The boys played the four new tunes from last night, plus an additional song titled Hmm? The DMB Road Page posted the following comment:

Fantastic show in Tinley Park tonight! Energy levels on stage and in the audience were high. The band are having a great time together as usual, and it's showing in their performance. Along with the 4 new songs we heard last night, DMB played a tune that they wrote during soundcheck this afternoon. Dave improvised lyrics and band members exchanged solos. When asked what we should name the song on the web site, Dave replied "Hmm? Call it......'Hmm?!'." We're headed to Indy for shows on Sunday and Monday. See y'all there.

The DMB Realtime Setlist called the songs, New Song #1, 2, 3, and 4. dmbalmanac.com has stated that there were actual song titles listed on setlists used by the crew at the show. (Continued)
