Dave Matthews Band Earns $41.1 Million in Ticket Sales in 2007

Dave Matthews Band Ticket Sales 2007Following this year's Summer Tour, the Dave Matthews Band generated $41.1 million in ticket sales in 2007. This puts the band at #11 out of the top 20 band earnings for this past year. This past year’s ticket sales earnings are slightly up from 2006, when the band earned $39 million. Fox Business reports that the Dave Matthews Band is #4 on most requested concerts for 2007, which could be directly correlated to their increased ticket sales.

Surprisingly, Dave Matthews Band outranked two bands that staged major reunion tours in 2007: Rush and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. DMB is also #6 on themost requested events of 2007, a single spot behind New England Patriots football games.

Although DMB ranks high overall, they still manage to set their ticket prices rather low compared to< other bands that generate high amounts of money through ticket sales. A Pollstar article indicates that the average Dave Matthews Band ticket price is $47.80, the lowest average on the list of the top 20 band earnings through ticket sales.

High ticket prices, however, do not guarantee that a band will rank high on the list of top 20 band earnings. Bruce Springsteen, for example, had an average ticket price of $98, more than the average DMB ticket price, but placed behind the Dave Matthews Band at #14 on Yahoo’s rankings.

Although 2007 was a successful year for DMB’s ticket sales, the combined ticket sales of the top 20 ticket sales generators is down $996 million, a decrease of 15%. The 2007 concert industry has had its worst year since 2004.
