In Memory of Leroi Moore: 1961-2008
The Dave Matthews Band community mourns the loss of LeRoi Moore today. LeRoi Moore was a founding member of Dave Matthews Band.
LeRoi was first reported injured on June 30th, 2008 and listed in serious condition at the University of Virginia Health System. On July 1st his condition was upgraded from serious to fair. On July 6th it was announced that Bela Fleck and the Flecktones' hornist Jeff Coffin would be sitting in with DMB for the rest of the summer tour.
On July 18th, it was disclosed that LeRoi Moore had been readmitted to the hospital due to complications. No further official information about LeRoi's condition had been released.
According to Dave Matthews Band's management, LeRoi had returned to his LA home to begin a physical rehabilitation program. LeRoi Moore died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19th, 2008 at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles. His death was the result of sudden complications from his June ATV accident near his farm in Charlottesville, Virginia.
