Dave Matthews Band performed Sweet Caroline at Fenway Park, home to the Red Sox.
Sweet Caroline was written by Neil Diamond 1969, and over the years become a favorite sing-a-long for fans during live sports games. Thanks to Amy Tobey, the song started getting semi-regular play at Fenway Park starting in 1998. In 2002 the song began being performed every game in the eighth inning.
The regular play has earned the song special place in the hearts of Red Sox fans and was there when the team won the 2004 World Series Championship over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Some have decried the performance of the song, as a poor cover. However, reviews from the show say that the crowd quite into the performance and the performance is being hailed as the coolest thing the band has done so far this tour.
Regardless, the polarized response is a good sign that DMB is willing to continue to take risks about what it will play and cover.
