This morning Dave Matthews Band announced that it would be joining the Vote For Change Concert Tour for six dates in October. In the email from the Warehouse, they said: "We share a belief that this is the most important election of our liefetime. We are fighting for a govenrmnet that is open, rational, just and progressive.
The full tour includes 34 shows in 9 states and also features artists such as Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band, Bonnie Raitt, Dave Matthews Band, Dixie Chicks, Jackson Brown, John Mellencamp, Ben Harper, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Pearl Jam, R.E.M, James Taylor, Death Cab for Cutie, Bright Eyes, and Jurassic 5.
The Vote for Change concert series is presented by MoveOn PAC, and benefit America Coming Together, (ACT) "ACT for Victory" is the largest voter contact program in history, targeting swing voters who need "extra information about issues" to "persude them to vote for John Kerry and Democrats in federal, state and local elections."
Although previously Dave Matthews had endorsed Kerry and performed at Radio City Music Hall in support of his campaign, this is the first time the entire band has been drawn into the effort to oust President George W. Bush from office.
