Dave Matthews Updates, YouthAIDS, Katrina, Dave and Tim on a Caribbean Cruise
September 19th, 2005

Hawaii in your eye bitches!Dave Matthews performed solo at the annual Farm Aid benefit concert in Tinley Park, IL on Sunday. He opened with So Damn Lucky, which he hadn't performed since the last Farm Aid near Seattle, WA exactly one year before. The set included a number of other Some Devil songs which will probably get some play at the Dave and Friends show at Vegoose.

You can check out a press conference video of Dave Matthews at Farm Aid. Or even better: for a limited time download a full video capture of Dave's performance. But if you do that, you should probably donate to Farm Aid. God knows, no one's gonna catch you if you don't though. If the above link is dead because you are slow, check out this long article about why Dave and his wife are involved in Farm Aid.

Dave Plays YouthAIDS Benefit

Dave's gone benefit crazy, signing up for the 2005 YouthAIDS Benefit Gala along with Ashley and Wynona Judd, Tracy Chapman and Minnie Driver.

YouthAIDS is an "upbeat global initiative that uses theatre, media, music, fashion and sports, to spread messages of HIV/AIDS prevention and protection to the world's youth." Sounds just like the type of thing that would turn Dave on. Read this YouthAIDS press release for the full low-down.

Big Dough from Red Rocks

The Denver Channel is reporting that Red Rocks night four raised $1.25 million for Hurricane Katrina victims. Holy crap, that's a lot of money. Especially considering night four was by far the weakest of DMB's Red Rocks performances. Can you say burnt out?

Dave at MSG and RCMH on Tuesday

But Dave's not ready to quit on New Orleans. He's involved in "From the Big Apple to the Big Easy" This is a pair of concerts at Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden that will feature a ton of performers: Jimmy Buffet, Elvis Costello, Elton John, Lenny Kravitz, Bette Midler, Simon and Garfunkel, Trey, Galactic, Tom Waits and more. The MSG show will be broadcast live on pay-per-view Tuesday at 7pm EST. If you're in the area tickets are on sale now from $50 to $1000.

Rumor-monger

The hot rumor right now is that Dave and Tim will be playing on a cruise ship sailing through Caribbean. No other details. Speculation abounds. Would they play on the ship, or at venues on the islands? Is this a load of bull? Comment below.
