
Dave Matthews Band has announced that the new producer on their upcoming studio album release will be Mark Batson.
The choice of Batson follows in line with DMB bassist Stefan Lessard's comments in his July 7th, 2004 interview with WBCN's Cali. Batson has a long list of experiences both performing on and producing tracks for popular pop and hip-hop artists.
Some of his more notable production work includes credits as co-producer on Eminem's most recent album Encore, production on Beyonce's Dangerously in Love album and a series of production on albums for Seal.
In 2002, Mark Batson's production of India.Arie's Acoustic Soul earned seven nominatations including Album of the Year. His writing for Anthony Hamilton's "Comin' From Where I'm From" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance at the 2004 awards ceremony.
He has a credited role for musical contributions on a variety of albums including keyboards on the recent Gwen Stefani album Love Angel Music Baby, to piano on Talib Kweli's Beautiful Struggle.
His production involvemnet also includes many compilation albums such as The Essence of Soul, the Spider-Man 2 Original Soundtrack, Jazz Cafe: Soul Mix and Conception: A musical Tribute to Stevie Wonder.
DMB has created a website for the new album that includes a video featuring a new song in the background. We have captured the new video, along with a yet unreleased second video that highlights each member of DMB.
