The official Dave Matthews Band website has announced that Of a Revolution, (OAR) NERD, Guster, and Jason Mraz will be opening up shows for the 2004 Summer Tour. They join line-up of DMB Summer 2004 opening bands Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals and Black Eyed Peas

DMB 2004 Summer Tour Schedule
Here's a break down of the newly annouced performers:
OAR formed in 1998 at Ohio State University, with Marc Roberge, Chris Culos, Richard On, Jerry DePizzo and Benj Gershman. The group released their last studio album In Between Now & Then in May of 2003 with producer/mixer John Alagia.
Alagia may be familiar to DMB fans as the producer of Busted Stuff, and mixer behind Live at Folsom Field, Live in Chicago, and Listener Supported.
Going from nothing in 1997 to opening for DMB this summer is evidence of their explosive growth on the jam band scene.

N.E.R.D stands for No One Ever Really Dies, it is a project and musical front for The Neptunes' Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. Joined by rapper Shay is also a part of NERD. The project has put forth two full albums, In Search Of... and most recently, Fly or Die
Dave Matthews recently was accompanied by NERD's frontman Pharrel Williams on the Grammy's tribute to Sting. The close work between Dave and Williams during the rehearsals for the event may have helped forge links between the two performers.
DMB bassist Stefan Lessard has also commented in interviews that he'd like to bring hip-hop sounds/beats into some of DMB's new material. Both of these may have been behind the decision to invite NERD to join the DMB 2004 summer tour.

Guster found its roots in the a college music scene at Tufts University. Ryan Miller, Brian Rosenworcel and Adam Gardnerput put out thier fourth studio alubum, Keep It Together in January 2003.
Steve Lillywhite, famed producer of DMB's Lilywhite Sessions produced their third album, Lost and Gone Forvever.
Known for their high-energy live performances, their most recent tour has taken them along the college circuit, hitting Carthage, Purdue, Michigan State, and Indiana University. WIth several dates opening for John Mayer.

Jason Mraz hit the radar for many DMB fans after Dave Matthews himself made two suprise appearances on Mraz's stage outside the 2002 Gorge shows. According to this MTV News article, Mraz drove a pickup all the way from San Diego, CA to play the parking lot shows for free.
Mraz's personal investment turned out to be quite worth it, as he soon went on tour opening for Dave Matthews Band. His touring has also allowed him to open for singer/songwriter/poet Jewel. His acclaimed album, Waiting For My Rocket To Come was produced by frequent DMB Producer, John Alagia.
