 A radio edit of the first single off Stand Up has been released to AOL Music's First Listen francise. This is the first appearance of an officially recorded track from Dave Matthews Band's new studio album, Stand Up.

The song opens with a pizzicato violin plucking pattern from Boyd Tinsley and is immediatly followed by a strong hip-hop drum beat from Carter the two work together to carry a simple loop that underlies a song with incredibly potential.
In this version, the chorus is entered only 26 seconds into the song. Listening party attendees have signaled that this is among the more pop-sounding tunes on the album. How much pop?
Let's look at the total track length up to the first chorus on songs from Before These Crowded Streets and Everyday. We chose the above two albums because Dave has said in an interview that he desired to make an album more like BTCS. Stand Up's producer, Mark Batson is more known for his work with pop artists and Everyday is considered to be a pop album by many DMB fans.

You're welcome to challenge the timing we've listed for the start of each chorus or the math. Either way, its clear that judging from this version of American Baby, the track length to chorus is matching up closer to Everyday than BTCS and the song structure is more fit for radio airplay.
It is clear that LeRoi Moore's solo at the end of the song was cut off prematurly, which indicates that a long jam may be intended for live play, or even the actual album release.
Either way, we'll be waiting for another version with out the AOL guy.
