SOS Concert Global Warming Dave Matthews Band to Perform?Update 2/15/07: This has been confirmed. See end of this article.

The Financial Times and a number of lesser publications are reporting that a new concert and media extravaganza dubbed "SOS" is has been set for July 7th, 2007. The SOS concert lineup is said to "dwarf" the line-up of Live8 and Live Aid concerts. Dave Matthews Band performed at Live 8, July 2nd 2005.

This news begs the question, will DMB perform at SOS? According to last week's minutes from the Chicago neighborhood association the band balked at Wrigley tour dates due to Dave Matthews and his wife expecting a baby around that time. Later reports from People magazine indicated that the baby is expected in June.

The SOS Global Warming or Global Climate Change is set to occur in London, Washington DC, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town and Kyoto. The SOS concert location in Washington DC seems to be the most likely candidate for a Dave Matthews Band appearance.

This new information occurs amid speculation that there will be no Dave Matthews Band tour dates in July, and instead a late summer tour that bleeds well into the Fall. However, with the new album set for release in July and the presumed opportunity to perform in perhaps the biggest concert in world history how could the band pass it up?

Update: It appears that there are VIP tickets being scalped for DMB at Burgettestown, PA on July 13th and 14th. If this is true it would put an end to speculation that there are no DMB dates in July. It would also, perhaps increase the likelihood of an SOS appearance.
