Autographed Dave Matthews Tickets

August 30th, 2004

Dave Matthews Autographed Warehouse Tickets

From night one of the West Palm Beach shows.

My girlfriend Tamara is a HUGE DMB fan as well as myself and I really wanted her to be able to meet him. We were at the 7/31 show early, hanging out by the back entrance BS'ing with other WH'ers when someone told us where the band was staying in Palm Beach. We went to the show that day, which was excellent by the way and planned to go to their hotel on Sunday. We got there early, chatted with Boyd's bus driver and found out that most of the band was staying that night and leaving for Tennessee the next day.

We got a little bummed because it started to rain but that is what umbrellas are for. In the mean time, the buses started moving to the front of the hotel. As we were standing there trying to not get too wet, we noticed that there was somebody walking down the sidewalk carrying a backpack. I looked and calmly said to Tamara, "There's Butch". We went over got pictures with him and told him how much we enjoy the music. He was really great. We then went to the front of the hotel and waited for the others to come out.

Next came Leroi but by that time it was raining pretty hard we got a picture and he shook my hand. Stefan came out and went straight on the bus. Then here comes Boyd walking down the driveway saying, "guys its raining!", he stopped in the rain took pictures  and signed some autographs. As he was finishing up Dave came down carrying his daughter and went straight to the bus and got on. The door closed and we assumed that they were leaving so we decided to leave, go back to the hotel and get some dry clothes on for the concert. As we were pulling out of the parking lot, we saw Dave's bus pulled over with the door open with a line of like 7 people and he was allowing people to come up the steps of the bus. We parked and started running to the bus but halfway there the doors closed and they drove away.

Tamara was pretty bummed, so I knew that the next day was our only chance. I kept telling her, "don't worry it will happen tomorrow."  We went back to the hotel the next morning and saw all of the buses there except Boyd's, just like his driver had said. Boyd had to fly to New York and the driver had to take the bus to Jacksonville to get a front bearing replaced. Anyway......

Dave's bus pulled to the front of the hotel and we knew that he would come out soon. There were like 6 people there total including us.....Dave walked down the driveway. He walked over to this couple talked to them for like 10 minutes and them began walking towards us. As he was walking to us, I walked towards him and I put my hand out and we shook hands. I told him that I appreciated his passion for music and thanked him for bringing his music to me.

By this time, my girlfriend Tamara was totally in awe. We both told him how great the last 2 concerts were and how much we appreciated the encore All Along The Watchtower the night before. He asked if it sounded good and we affirmed that it did. We talked some more to him, he signed our tickets...actually he asked us if we wanted him to sign our tickets and of course we had him sign our WH tickets. Tamara got into a conversation with him about her ring she had on. Instead of throwing away old guitar strings when I change them, I make jewelry out of them. Dave thought it was really cool and told us that he did that once and made earrings for an old girlfriend but when she put them on they made her ear lobes hang way down. It was a typical Dave funny story. We then got several pictures taken, his road manager took them for us and they turned out great. We told Dave that we appreciated him taking the time to talk with us and we wished him a great remainder of the simmer tour.

So that is the story, not really in a nutshell but the story nonetheless.
Let me know when you put anything on your sight.
One last thing.....no we are not stalkers just ultimate DMB fans and I really wanted Tamara to meet him. It was all well worth it.

Leroi and Fenton on a Roller Coaster

July 22nd, 2004

Leroi Moore and Fenton Williams on a Roller CoasterSomeone on the forums of CoasterBuzz, a roller-coaster information site posted a picture of LeRoi Moore and DMB Lighting Director Fenton Williams on a ride at Six Flages: Darien Lake.

Darien Lake has been host to DMB shows since 1994. The venue has a seating capacity of 21000. Its location allows it to draw a large crowd, but the venue itself is plagued by problems ranging from the acoustics to the bathrooms.

This isn't the first time the band's taken to the amusement park for rides...
