Butch Taylor and the New DMB Album
So Butch! Butch is technically a guest, but I think his involvement on the new album warrants its own thread. My general sense is that the quality of his 2005 tour work made people more comfortable with his place in the band.
How do you all feel about his place in the band going in to the studio? How much should he be felt in the recorded tracks? Do you think he should influence songwriting, or just fill in on tracks that the 'real' dmb (5 members) creates? r

 Oh hell yeah! Just the thread I've been waiting for.I feel Butch should be able influence the music. If he has something to add that Batson and/or DMB like then "whammy!." go for it I say. Having played with the band for a while now he def brings something to the table. Should he be able to write a song and/or have a song based around his music? Not unless the "official" band wants it that way. Should he be limited to just "filling in the void" in songs? I sure hope not. I've always stuck up for the Butchinator and will continue to. I'm not saying some of his solos don't occasionally annoy me but (and a big but it is), he def deserves the chance to contribute on a larger scale should the rest of DMB want it that way. Everytime someone jumps on Butch's case, I think about the Two Step from central park and I remember that he can def. rock it. Summary: Yes, let him contribute more than "filling voids" and no don't let him run the show.

BUTCH IS AN AMAZING PIANO PLAYER, AN ASSET TO THE BAND, AND SHOULD NOT BE BELITTLED BY ANYONE
ok, i can see how SOME people may not like his extended solos (even though i like them), but butch is amazing. hes basically the 6th member, not a guest. anyone remember this thread? the band isnt the band without butch
