Ever notice on some messageboards you have this sort of 'Lord of the Flies'

type of loser social darwinism that seems to take hold most of the time? You have your regular posters that feel a little higher up on the message board food chain, have some established relationships which they like to use to seperate themselves from newer users because it fills in a certain void of self esteem that they're probably not getting in their lives from other, more healthy places.

I'm just wondering if there are a lot of people like that here? Because I'm really not interested in filling the voids that have been created by someone's own shortcomings that I have had nothing to do with.

By no means does this include everyone, but I think if you find yourself falling into the type of category I'm talking about here, an appointment with the mental health professional of your choice if probably in order. That way you can still save the portion of your life which has yet to be lived.

I just wanted to post that little piece before anyone decided to call me a newbie. Hope it helps.

Yeah, I think a little darwinism exists on all message boards and everywhere on the internet for that matter but perhaps you shouldn't try so hard to exploit this...What's your point? That I think I'm better than you cuz I have over 500 posts??? Who Cares!!

And also a subtle message to whoever feels they are part of the heirarchy, that if you feel that way, or find yourselves acting in that manner, you should probaby get some mental help - but even if you don't, realize I will be laughing at you.

It seems as though you feel because you are new, you are better than those who have made this site what it is today. It's called seniority. By being around for a while, certain people know you and you know them. If the new members (i.e. you) want this "heirarchy" as you phrase it, then I suggest they start joining in coversations. We are a very welcoming group of people here, and if someone chooses to be a positive, enjoyable person, they will be received with much more open arms than someone who comes in with a negative attitude.

Ok, so this is my opinion for what it's worth. Like I said before....some people haven't learned yet that this board is not like those other boards like ufck. (I find it an interesting coincidence that ufck has a thread called "When Social Darwinism Attacks.") This is a fun family here not a place to be ugly and slam one another. Except for a few exceptions now and then with some minor squabbles just like a family, we get along great and treat each other with respect. That's why some of us spend so much time here. We not only love DMB and all they have to offer, we genuinely like each other and enjoy spending time with one another. I have met some wonderful people here! I am even making plans to meet some of them in person! I love WDS ... I truly enjoy the people on here and I hope the atmosphere stays the same. If people want a different atmosphere, they should spend time at one of those other boards.

Laugh away. Such commentary shows that u truely lack an understaing of social darwinism. It is not a question.... it is a challenge to see what response u get. U are not opening interesting dialogue which such a question could introduce.. U are trying to instill negative feelings. Ur message is not sublte, it is loud and clear as to the individual that u are. From where I sit. There is merely 4 divisions on wds those that participate and those that dont. Those that take and never give and those that give. Unlike the boards u came from hint... social darwanism is a thread from another board. The only means neccessary to become part of the heirachy here is to participate, OOOO yes and not act like an ass. There are many good peeps here..
