i posted this over at dbtp.org as well
Halloween reminds me alot of the book Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. Here are my reasons Hey little dreamer's eyes open and staring up at me Oh, little lovely eyes, oh, radiant - In the book alot of emphasis is placed upon the creatures eyes when it wakes up and Victor Frankenstein's reaction to first seeing his creature I will dream within the night Shadows on the windows Lead our love Every love will lead me on tonight I will lay you lying, I will not within this life -In the story upon the creation of his monster Victor is haunted at what he has done and his relationship with his love Elizabeth is strained because he is in constant fear of his monster Oh, little dreamer eyes open and waving here - upon waking for the first time the monster is in constant wanting of companionship and belonging We will leave it all behind -Victor pretty much abandons his previous way of life, his love and family Oh, and in the nightmares, I'll fill them in good time, oh They will 'seech your mind And no lying, and you may, well, ask, "Why do we run around here?" "Oh, while you come inside me" "Oh, why does it rip me all between?" "Why then, why then?" watch this, little fuck! -Shows a continued representation of Victor's fear and the part about running could refer to Victor chasing the monster toward the end of the book. rip me all between could refer to all the internal conflicts within the story Going away, yeah... Why this lonely, why this lonely, why this lonely, love? Why this lonely, why this lonely, why this lonely, love? Halloween. -It seems as though in the book the main characters of which the vantage point of the story is written, Victon, Walton, and the Creature, are all in desperate need of a loving companion and sense of belonging. Don't walk away, don't walk away, don't walk away I'm talking to you -Victor abandons his monster and the monster desperatly wants to have a relationship with his "father" There's one possible interpretation, i hope most of you have read the book because its a complete 180 from the movies and cartoons about frankenstein

very interesting Andy, I will admit I've not read this book, but Barnes And Noble is a short walk from my apartment, and I believe they are open now, lol.

I've been searching for a book to pick up and read for a while now since the weather is getting nicer here in the city, love to read in the park.

way cool indeed.
even if the connection's not there I really enjoyed this, plus it will add to the experience next time I see Halloween live (I've been lucky enough to see 3 of the last 4 live performances I think - 12/21/02, 9-11-2005, 12/10/2005). |
