Default Dave Matthews Band rare songs album in the works?

From DMBNews.net:
http://www.dmbnews.net/2010/03/dave-...-album-in.html
Sounds too good to be true. Leave it to Coran to be smooth enough to be promoting an album that isn't even in the works yet...

Yeah, I saw that yesterday.

It seems to me that this is something others are pushing the band to do and not an idea Dave is real fond of.

It would be cool, but I don't really see it happening.

I've only read the DMBnews thing... not the entire article, yet.

Really great interview. While it'd be cool to get an album like that, I still want to see where they can go after doing Big Whiskey.

Also, this caught my attention because of what so many people say about MacHead:

Quote:
Fans have talked about it [MacHead] for years, whether it truly exists or whether it evolved into "Bartender" and all sorts of other theories.

Dave Matthews: No, no, it definatley did not evolve into "Bartender". Dedudehdu (Dave makes some sounds and plays a little air-guitar, t.Ed.). I sort of remember how it went. It was really pretty, but it got shut down nevertheless. That’s an intersting one, another good one, those are all good ones. "MacHead" was a really good one.

Interesting.

Hmm maybe that's why there is a video of Dave playing Sugar Will in the studio on the Fuse documentary?

I'll take an album like that for sure!

I think this would be awesome....................BUT I think many would be dissapointed to hear a studio version of what they have become to love live...such as Crazy Easy - your thoughts????

I agree with that 100%.

I would rather just have the live versions and hope that they get back into rotation along the tour then to have them all released as studio cuts and be disappointed. If they would just start playing them again, we wouldn't need a studio album of them. We'd have the tapes from the shows and still get all the energy we're used to because it will be live performance.

I tweeted Dave one day and he gave me a response that kind of hinted at this also. It was before the release of BWGGK and I was referring to the fact that Dave said all of the songs on the album were going to be "new" songs (i.e. no #27, Idea of You, etc). I said I love all the unreleased songs, I hope we dont lose them. I hope we still get to hear them live. He replied with, I think its cool that we have some tunes that we only play live. Maybe someday we will make and album of those songs and call it Live Not Live. But not today. I might be paraphrasing a little because I dont feel like cycling back through all of his twitters but it he definately alluded to such an album. But he also said that he likes having songs that they only play live so...

You do bring up a great point, I'm sure if I did get to hear my favorite unreleased songs this summer then I wouldn't care for an album.

Hmmm so maybe this does have some truth to it?
