And just FYI, we did that going Pavilion only hoping to get better seats... We were both in the back 1/3rd of the pavilion each night.
I'd like to clarify that I was second to the last row on N1.

I'm fine with GA for stadium/ballpark shows. I did it for Des Moines last year, got front row and had a great time. But, it's ALOT of work and you are standing around for hours before the show starts holding your place, and I'd have to think hard about doing it again. For amphitheatres, I am hoping the ones I go to have regular old pavilion seating.

Personally, I've always liked GA. The energy is always better because the fuddy duddies get fed up and move to the back (this isn't usually a huge problem at DMB shows, but I hate being at a show and being pumped up and everyone around me is a big dull dud). And DMB isn't a mosh-pit inducing show where you risk serious physical injury to get close to the stage (I still don't know how I managed to survive Incubus in Chicago last year, and that's not even the worst band for moshing).

AND it gives the determined few who may not have a ton of warehouse seniority a chance to get close. To be honest I've been getting frustrated with my seats over the last two years. The fact is, I'm more than willing to wait in line for hours to get close, and its nice to know that my patience might pay off.

Anyways, just my two cents.

I guess we'll just have to see how it panns out and which venues will have this new GA pit section. I know at Camden, an ampitheather, the pit section is blocked off by security... you need a wrist band to get in. They could easily impliment these new rules, as the seating in the pit section is folding chairs that can be removed. As long as they keep that section blocked off by security, it might not be too bad.

For Stadium shows... Hershey, in my case... I will def opt for a seat in the bleachers, since the entire floor section will now be GA. I've been in the 10th row there before and the stage is pretty high up, so the view isn't that great anyway... I don't want to stand there for hours on end all hot and sweaty without being able to pee or get a drink. It's that simple. Yeah, you have the opportunity to get close, but I'm not sure the uncomfort would be worth it. I don't want to pay $75+ for a ticket to not have a actual seat.
well said. I am not a fan of GA at all. Even for the Berkeley shows a couople years agao where the entire venue was GA - we still were in line all day every day - but not to get up front - it was to get front row of the SEATS. No one encroaching your personal space you can sit if you want or not if you don't and you had a great view of the stage. Perfect height and could see just fine.

I think it's only GA for the first few rows, right? If so you're pretty much guaranteed a great view, unless you're really short.
I think it's a good way to cut down on ridiculous scalping prices. I also think with the amount of work involved in getting a good spot it will only be the people who are there for the music who get up front. Hopefully...

Anna, here's a quick explanation.
Arenas - floor will be GA. Rest is reserved seating.
Amphitheatres - pit will be standing GA, then you'll have reserved pavilion and lawn.
Stadiums - field is GA, stands are reserved.

Best Available will get you the best of all choices. Otherwise, you can get anything that's priced the same as the seat you choose (so if you pick GA Pit for $75 and Reserved Pav is also $75, you could end up with either).

This is an absolutely horrible idea. I've heard a few people already say this in this thread... it can already get kind of ridiculous with sweaty, drunk, inconsiderate people acting stupid around you. I like to have MY SPACE and MY SEAT. That's why I pay the extra money to be IN the Warehouse and that's why I save for this concert every year. That's why I put $500 worth of Dave Matthews Band tickets on my credit card every year. To guarantee my spot and my seat because I CARE that much. I don't need to further spend hours standing in the heat (FLORIDA) and be squished.

Plus I am only 5'1". It's already difficult enough as it is for me to have a great view - and that's considering the space I am given for my seat. Now I'm going to be squished so I am standing directly behind someone and can't see a thing? I don't mind doing this for any local band downtown, when I'm paying $10 or $15 to see them. I'm all for standing in the pit and having a great time. But when it comes to Dave and the money I shell out for it - I like to have my space so I can sit, stand, whatever.

And for those who are saying this will weed out all of the "boring" people - let me just say that if it were not for my SEAT last year that I was able to STAND ON, we would not have heard Halloween on Night 2 at West Palm. It was ONLY because of my SEAT that I was able to hold up my HALLOWEEN sign so that Dave could see it. So you're welcome.

I am so disappointed in whoever was put in charge of changing the Warehouse ticketing and the seating at the amphitheatres. I got a reminder e-mail not too long ago to renew my Warehouse membership so as not to lose seniority -- but for what now? I just think that this is a horrible idea and I'm not looking forward to standing, waiting and being squished.
