I snuck my camera in as did one of my friends, she had hers in her back pocket and got thru even tho they were tapping people as they walked by. No one said anything to me about it, but I was on the lawn in Raleigh. They were going through purses and yelling "No cameras!!" What I don't understand is, they know they're going to get in somehow so what is the point even saying no cameras. It's ridiculous that you can't see your favorite band live and not take a picture of it.

That's not the point - dmb could care less about your personal photos of the band, stage, lighting, friends, joints, drunkenness, PDA, etc.

The thing they frown upon is evil people who take very professional-looking photos and sell them to schmucks who don't know any better. If you said, "Cameras are OK for everyone," the illegal dmb photo profiteering would explode.

Hope that helps clarify.

IMHO, I don't think it's very hard to get things past security.

I used to work for CSC who does Meadows in HTFD, or Dodge as its called now. Basically, the impression that I had from all the events I worked at was that the level of restrictions changes from venue to venue unless a band (or their mgmt) specifically requests increased security. So I wouldn't assume as a rule that the shows this year will all have increased security. It probably all depends on where you are

security was tight in Raleigh, but after pure chaos a few years back in Charlotte, I thought it was a nice change. All of the security crew i came in contact with were very nice and helpful...even parking and exit was pretty much a breeze.

If someone walks in with a pocket camera - hey, enjoy the show - if someone is waltzing in with a super camera with a 2 foot lens - sorry, but that is not allowed. Security personnel that can't distinguish between the two need to be fired.

I know some smaller cameras take better quality photos than others, but the only people that stand a chance of getting "sellable" photos with a pocket camera are close to the front. Monitor it closely up there.

Above all of that - I would like to know the ratio of people that plan to sell these photos to the people that just want photos of a band they like and paid good money to see.
