Default Hey y'all!

I'm Emmie from just outside of Philadelphia. This summer marks my '10 years of summer tours' with DMB. I was trying to get to where ever they'd be playing on or about August 29th(the official anni of my first show), but it turns out that I had to be responsible and only attend a few local shows this summer. I'll be at Hershey & the July 6th camden show. But next year, look out! I'll be at the Gorge for sure!
I've been registered here for awhile, read every week, but don't post much. Part of it is b/c I can't always post from work. The other part is b/c I forgot my user name and password until this weekend. What can I say? I'm a dork like that.

I am the one responsible for the "Dave at Haverford's Graduation" pictures. How I was the only DMB 'message board' person there with a camera amazes me. And that some of the pictures are good is even more amazing. (The batteries in the camera were going b/c I had been at the U2 show the night before.)
Also yesterday, I got to speak with Dave for about 10 seconds and shake his hand. I thought "He's walking right towards me, I've got to take this picture and then speak to him." So I said 'Congratulations Dave" and he said hello and took my hand. I was shocked, but managed to say "Thanks for your music it means so much to me." and he said "Thanks, I appreciate that." And kept walking past, but still holding onto my hand. As he let go of my hand he winked at me. I really nearly fell over right then and there. After 12 years of loving this band, I got to say thanks. It was very overwhelming.

Anyway, that's my story so far. Can't wait to get to know more about everyone. Y'all seem like fun people

Cheers!

Emmie,

that is so cool!!!! I'm glad you had the composure to say what you did. The pictures are fabulous; but, I am sure you won't forget that greeting.

How did you know about the ceremony ahead of time?

Hey now, I resemble that remark!!!

Emmie, VERY cool what you said to him especially in the short time you had available! It's something very close to what I would say. It is surprising that you were the only message board person (so far) that has pictures, but I'm NOT complaining at all, thanks!

I knew in March/April that Dave was on the list, but wasn't sure if he was going to be there. I wasn't going to go at first b/c I didn't know anyone who was graduating. But then someone that I work with told me her nephew was graduating and I should go. You didn't need a ticket, but needed a parking pass. Which I never got in time, so I knew where to park off campus and just walked up the driveway to the lawn. Not bad at all. I did meet up with the person from work, but subsequently lost them in the crowd once I moved up for a better view. They completely understood and weren't mad.

There were a good amount of people just there b/c dave was there. But everyone was very respectful of the occasion. I would have regretted not going as it's about 10 minutes from where I live. The most I thought would happen would I'd get some pictures. I just happened to be in the right place and the right time when the recessional started. I was basically stuck next to the pathway where they were walking. I just moved down to where there were less people so I could get a good picture. Then he was right there. It was very surreal.
