Default Creating a Car Stereo to Bump DMB

A few threads ago we were talking about bumping DMB while driving around and intersections.

It had me wondering if anyone's ever put a car stereo system together with the idea of having a great setup for DMB music. Anyone do this?

I'd like to tow a trailer behind my Jeep so the band could play live while I drive around!

I have a setup that I made geared towards DMB. First off I have '01 Jeep Cherokee which came with a crappy ass factory system so I completely took it out. I first bought a Kenwood flip face CD player which broke right after the warranty expired, and now have a cheap Pioneer CD/MP3 player. I have MB Quartz speakers, which are expensive but have great range and definitely pick up the highs. Don't expect a lot of bass out of them though. I have blown the tweeter on them a couple of times though, but luckily they came with a 3 year warranty. I also bought an Eclipse 800w 4 channel amp, (200w maximum boost for each speaker) which I haven't had any problems with and gives me great power to jam to. Lastly comes the sub, I didn't want to mess around with an expensive sub setup and seperate amp for it (which is recommended over a 5 channel amp). So what I did was buy an all in one amp and sub combo. I really didn't want something that could be heard down the entire block, but just something that gives a full sound since the speakers don't have much kick to them. I put the system in my car in '01 and the whole setup including installation and everything ran me about $2,000. Would I do it again? Nope, I've had a bunch of problems with everything except the amp. The trouble is not worth the return. Unless you have something God awful I suggest sticking with what you have. Dealing with all these seperate parts and dealers just makes for a sticky situation. I thought I was getting good stuff, and you usually get what you pay for, but aparantly $2,000 isn't enough so think about it and do your homework before you make a huge investment of time and money.

Im planning on putting a TV/DVD player in my Jeep for the main purpose of watching some Dave on the road. Putin in a nice Soundstream Amp, and prolly a 10 or 12 to give some Bumpity Bump to Dave. I dont think Ill worry about the speakers until they blow from Dave's Wailing.... Should have it ready to go in the next week or 2. Can't wait!!!
