Default We Need an Anthology

With the greatest hits album coming out in a few weeks, it got me to thinking. I kept looking at the track list and I just couldn't help thinking of all the great songs they were leaving off. There is just too many classics from them to fit into a two cd set. I think really the only thing they should do is release an anthology. Have a set of all their studio albums, live trax, and other live albums (i.e. the gorge and weekend on the rocks). I know this would be really expensive, but I bought the Grateful Dead anthology, and it is the greatest thing I've ever bought. I think since DMB has so much material now, they can make one of these. Anyone else agree?

5 stars... you could so easily see like a six cd box set with just unreleased songs and alternate versions/live songs... kinda like the beatles did. Give it 10 years or so I wouldn't doubt it

i could see that happening after the boys finish with RCA.

I agree, maybe in about 10-15 years they'll do something to that effect. At that time it should only cost $300-$400!!!

An anthology would be nice....but not now...and no time soon. Those should be something created after a band is done making new music. It would be pointless to do it during their career, because there would be so many more songs added to their repitoire after production that would not be included.....

Default Here's my shot at it....for fun

Because the tour is about to kick off, I thought this would be fun to do. It was, but incredibly hard to get this down to even 30-ish in track count. My goal was 20, but I just couldn't get it down.

Here is my attempt at a anthology (or chronology) that is now a playlist on my ipod. I used only released material, went from the earliest released stuff to the most recent, and tried not to repeat any (Warehouse is the only repeat).

I'd love to see what you think and other people's list (especially Brandon's - hint hint).
  • Granny (8.31.93 | Trax Night Club | Charlottesville, VA) Warehouse 8, Vol 3|'07
  • Pay For What You Get (9.27.94 | Charlottesville, VA) Warehouse 8, Vol 3|'07
