Where were you on 9/11?

It seems so unreal that 5yrs have gone by since the tragedy of 9/11, and I still get emotional every time I think, read, or see anything about it. Just wondering, where was everybody at when the Twin Towers were hit?


I was still in HS at the time and was changing classes -- I remember walking down the hallway and hearing all this talk about something happening in NY....I got into my next class and someone brought a tv in and I watched in horror and stunned silence along with the rest of my classmates as the 2nd tower was hit and both fell....

It was also scary for me following the attacks because my dad had been taking a flight out of the airport where the terrorist planes had left from, and we didn't know if his plane had been one of the abducted ones. My mom told me this when I got home from school (she didn't let me younger sisters know), and it was a tense and tearful night of waiting and praying.

I still get tears in my eyes even as I write this, and I send out a prayer to all those affected by the event.

I was walkin thru the halls of my HS, just trying to get to class when one of my friends said something about planes and the World Trade Center. I got to class and the tv was already on, we watched tv for basically the rest of the day, every class had one on at some point or another.

It's a black day in our history, yet a bright spot to look at too- seeing all the people rally behind NYC and everyone who was impacted on that day. Like dave said...

"I just wana pay my respects to all those people who lost their lives two years ago. And we pay all our respects to them, and to all of you who lost somebody special. And to all of us who lost our inoccence on that day, we will never forget it, no. But let us also not forget all the million of people that have died all over the world for the same terrible reason, for the same terrible reasons ya'll. I hope that one day we find a peacful world to live on..."

I was at home. My friend called me up, pretty much waking me and told me to turn on the TV. When he told me that the WorldTradeCenter was hit, I did not believe him. I ending up watching the second plane hit live on television. It is something that I will never forget.

I happen to have off work that day, so I was pretty much watching the news the entire day. I made a lot of phone calls, because there were a good handful of people who live in the city of New York that where in the area.

My thought and prayers go out everyone who was a victim of this tragic day.

I had just gotten out of the shower and was getting ready for work. My Mom called me and told me to turn on the TV, that a plane had hit the WTC. I turned it on just in time to see the second plane hit. I thought it was a replay of the first one, and she started freaking out, which was when I realized that it wasn't a replay. I had to go into work that morning to open the store, and was there alone for about an hour. I had turned on the TV in the owners office (a big no-no) and when he walked in, I straight out told him I didn't care that it wasn't suppose to be on. I was freaked out and had no idea what all was going to happen next. Of course, he didn't mind. I was suppose to go on a date that night to see Jeepers Creepers (kinda glad I didn't waste my time on the movie), but somewhat got "stood up." I was afraid to call the guy cause I thought he might have possibly known someone there and that was why I didn't hear from him.

2 weeks later I found out that my ex-uncle (who we still kept in touch with) was in NYC for business. He was in the second tower, but got out ok. He ran down 30 flights of stairs and kept running all the way to his hotel about 10 blocks away. As soon as he got to the front doors of the hotel, he turned around and watched the first tower fall....

i was sitting in my physics class talking with some friends when a girl came in and told us what happened. at this point only 1 airplane had struck the towers. she didn't know much else so we all thought it was an accident. it wasn't until hours later as i was walking to my global ethics and world religion class that i cut through the student commons and saw what was unfolding on cnn...

I was in college when it happened. I had my alarm set for the radio, it turned on and people were talking about what was happening...I thought I was still dreaming, then it hit me, I jumped up out of bed and turned on the TV. Saw the second plane hit, saw the towers fall.

I remember at that time how scared I felt, so helpless, I was so afraid...for my own life even because no one knew what was going to happen next. Needless to say, I didn't go to my classes that day.

I remember the day after, I went to a class and all we did was talk about it. And they had stopped all flights anywhere in the country and, as we were sitting there, we heard a plane fly by. We were all scared that it was another attack. Thank god it wasn't. What a terrible time. I remember the people jumping out of the buildings...I'll never forget that.

I was at work and we were listing to the morning show on the radio and they always liked to joke around so i didnt think anything of it until I went home at lunch. Thats when it really hit me hard. I didnt lose anyone in the attack, but my friend Uncle who I knew for a good 5 years was in the 2nd tower and made it out fine but later died that day.

did anyone happen to watch the documentary on TV last night? I believe it was on ABC.....REALLY moving....2 french filmmakers got it ALL in video, from inside the towers and out....they were doing a docu on one of the probatioary firefighters in one of the houses that responded, so they just happened to be there for it all....

i was living in NYC. ill never forget watching the 1st tower fall on TV and then looking out my window and seeing all the smoke. One of the most horrifying days of my life.

i was in the fifth grade i think. was in social studies class and the teacher turned on the tv then we all knew. pretty sucky day
