Wow. Wow. and Wow. I still personally like N1 a tiny bit better, but seriously with this set!!
Little Thing was a huge surprise opener. Not a fan of Funny, but I do think they way they've reworked it a bit it is much much better. PNP>Rapunzel is always welcomed in my book, but Loving Wings... whoa. Beautiful. Shotgun Shotgun Shotgun, play it for me at every show and I am not complaining. Minarets = yes! You know I could have done without Jimi Thing, and especially now that the crowd sings the whole dang song Rhyme & Reason, The Dreaming Tree (both with Stanley Jordan so so good) Raven, #41, So Much To Say>ASTB>Too Much, what was even happening??? Gaucho was a good break, one needs to compose themselves after a run like that, lol. Typical, *sigh* who doesn't LOVE this song??? I was sad to find out they replaced Wake Up with If Only, only because selfishly I wanted it to complete Stand Up live for me... But If Only is one of the new songs I like the most. Called that Two Step closer with Anna and it was so freakin AMAZING! The Space Between I have never heard live before and love love love it Dave solo. Thought it was over at Ants, but we got a great Thank You. Kind of expected it a little, but nevertheless I love watching Dave act like an idiot up there on stage dancing and all - too much fun! Rashawn and Jeff brought out the water guns and were spraying the crowd and Stanley Jordan was dancing around with Dave and playing Dave's guitar toward the end - that was a great way to close out the weekend. Thank you again to everyone who made this weekend one of the best ever. There was a lot of ridiculousness and so many memories made, we are going to have a tall order to top it in the future years to come.

Yeah, N2 was fantastic also. I love the intro to Funny now. Rapunzel was smoking!! I ran to the bathroom when You and Me started and I was still there when Shotgun started, so had to enjoy that on my walk back through the crowd (most of who didn't seem to know the song at all) rather than from the pavilion, which was a bit of a bummer. Rhyme and Dreaming Tree were highlights, but Typical was my top highlight of weekend. I love that song and it's been years since I've seen it live (mainly b/c they hadn't played it much live for the past few years). It was awesome. Definitely could have closed the set with that, especially b/c the end jam was so powerful, but of course they played more and more. Thank You, I guess, was the perfect encore closer to complete the Alpine experience.

Cathy and Mitch couldn't be more spot on with their thoughts of the show!
Dan..."when things get weird" No kidding!Night 2 was definitely a highlight. I heard Little Thing, Loving Wings, Minarets (FINALLY), TYPICAL (ERMEHGERD), Space Between (It is beautiful as a Dave solo IMO) and Thank You all for the first time. It was a lot to take in, but honestly, this show was just amazing! I am so lucky to meet and know so many amazing people, and I hope Alpine continues to be our meetup for years to come! |

I missed most of what's described here. The camera work on night 2 was pretty bad, night one only marginally better. I was halfway up the lawn both nights and could only see the folks on the stage by line of sight with a fair amount of effort.
Enjoyed night one more . . . crowds less dense. Have noticed that Carter smiles less, but Dave seems to do better in high heat. Check out the Bonnaroo 2010 where he's completely soaked-- probably my favorite show vid. Was that a Corn Bread fake-out on night two, or did I imagine it? Nothing against Stanley Jordan, but it would have been easy as pie to helicopter John Popper in for night one, at least by encore time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkXMFDay0Q8 Probably going to see him tonight.
