I liked it. It did sound still kind of raw. I like other style lyrics more instead of the political stuff. But it does get me excited about the new album.

I think the song was very subdued. I could tell Dave was very nervous playing the song for the first time without any of his fellow band mates behind him. He kind of picked up steam after Kirk started singing towards the end. I expect this song to have a little more of a punch when the full band joins him on it.

Just getting around to this, but I'm definitely a fan of Mercy. It really caught on with me once I listened a few times. It has that calm, quiet, yet powerful feel to it. Also, hearing it full band from the other night made me like it even more. It's amazing what a bass line and some crafty work by Carter can do to a song!

I could see it, full band, having a Grace is Gone kind of feel.

No, Lillywhite tweeted that after the Dave solo performance on Fallon and his use of the word "quiet" is misleading (probably only meant full band vs. solo). I think what we're hearing live now is how it is on the album. So, yeah, it still is essentially a "quiet" song.

Too bad... I was really savoring that Scranton recording and looking forwarded to a new extended jam vehicle. I'm relatively new to DMB fandom-- think it may still evolve, or is this pretty much it?

Oh no this song has just begun to evolve. Wait until they have had more shows to feel it out. It will grow, should they find a way to do it.
