I think it looks like Roi, and dave was talking about how he just drew what he imagined the GrooGrux king to look like, I think in the canadian interview, and they even say it kinda looks like roi

Dave said he drew one picture of it that looked exactly like Roi so he toned it down. I think his goal was to make it not look like Roi but it just kind of happened.

I am late to the thread and everybody already knows this about the cover art,the most basic,things about big whiskey,groo,king,N.O,king of a Carnival Krewe, etc. so pardon me. Being from N.O., I see first Mardi Gras things. Big Whiskey-See the you tube vid or somewhere on line where the band with Rahsawn and others were taking a group picture in The French Quarters and it is where the drunk guy is saying he needed a whiskey,and DM gave him some money and the drunk guy said he was getting a big whiskey. DM explained that and the meaning on the tv shows last month qnd other things N.O.meanings. They did record some of the cd New Orleans. Somebody posted that DM took his family to Mardi Gras this year.
King,Carnival Krewes have a king of their parade and organization. Groo sounds like krewe. Groo sounds good next Grux(C&L's pet name).The king on the cover is def Roi. He is leading the parade in The French Quarters.BTW,you do not have parades in The FrenchQuarters. The float looks like Rex's king float.That oragaization has eye covers on their horses. On the page with Shake Me Like A Monkey,I see Pete Fountain. I see lots of N.O. things.

Art is what you interpret , however that sayings goes.
What I definitely know about the cd's art is that I like it.
It is a diferent cd.

I love this album, the influence that Roi had on it is awesome! I love how even in a time of sadness the band was able to keep making music. Now, every time I hear Why I Am, I always think of Dave saying "and this one will always be for our good friend LeRoi"

I just love looking at all the smallest details knowing that Dave sat there and doodles them at some point. What a creative strange brain that man has.
