yea I did'nt choose KIll the king, it's good, but not DMB good yet and If they can make it better, by all mean's put it on the album.

they should have all these and more for their next album, don't cut anything, and have like at the least 16 song's at the least. just a huge album would be orgasmic and bound to be there best!

I think it would be great to see the new songs from this summer on the new album: "Break Free", "Can't Stop", "Kill the King", Shotgun", "The Idea of You", & "Sister". I wouldn't complain if all or none are on there.

As for those other 3 songs which were from the Summer Tour 2004 ("Joyride" "Sugar Will", & "Good Good Time"), I say leave them off, but keep playing them live in the future every now and then. It would be a nice "treat".

However......I would like to see "Crazy-Easy" on there. To give it another shot. I like this song, but it sort of seems like it flies under the radar. No one really mentions it too much.

But overall I would rather see more new songs, preferably without so much creative help from whoever winds up being the producer. Keeping my fingers crossed:  (There is no icon to insert with fingers crossed, so I am using a thumbs up. Close enough.)

i love break free and kill the king and idea of you, not as big of a fan of can't stop or shotgun though... and sugar will/joyride/ggt all for sure!! although they might be like joyride, not as good on the album (or the companion or whatever) as live

I'd love to hear all of them on the new album...that is, however, if and only if DMB can get their new songs to that DMB-worthy state. If they have to rush any of them, then just wait and continue to work on it till they are perfect. I wouldn't mess with Idea of You or Break Free, but the others just don't sound quite "there"...

I stil think Kill The King is the best new song they have..if they would onlyplay it more...the lyrics of the chorus are just crushing...

Shotgun is such a great tune, i mean i love all the songs mentioned but shotgun is just wonderful. I really hope they use all these songs because they are really good and def. would make this from a good album to one of there best albums.

Yeah, I'm definitely loving Shotgun. It's my favorite new song. I love all of them though, I haven't been disappointed at all. I think Idea Of You = this year's Joyride. But I'm happy with that, both are solid tunes. I'm really pleased with the direction the new songs are going.

I loved Joy Ride, I think it can be a good game in an album. It's the 2000's Rapunzel.

good songs:
sister: oooooh... it's strange to write 'bout this song. I heard it for the first time live in London and it hit me. I don't know if it's the better song that Dave wrote since the start of the times, but surely it's the one that excite me most. I can cry every time I listen to this song
the idea of you, it remembers me The Police a bit. The Chorus is very nice, I think that all the song is built on it, 'cause the Verse is a little... ehm, weak. Nice work by Leroi and, of course, Carter.
Break Free: wow... is this song born from a jam session? pretty simple but cool
Shotgun: great song, maybe the best of the new ones. I want it on the new record, no excuses!

bad songs:
can't stop: it seems a poor outtake from some devil.
kill the king: hmmmm, no. I find it anonymous. Not the DMB i love.

you need one more category-none of the above.

you may find it odd that i say this: here is why.

i hate it when songs that debut live are put on albums. more often than not, the album version is not as good, and an album version cements a set of lyrics or riffs, whereas a song only played live is much more flexible. just look at hello again.

Agree but not really, personally i like to have a cement version of the lyrics so that i can sing to it. but I mean just because it happened to hello again, look at two step or tripping billies or ants marching, of course these are classics they were road tested first then put on album. they evolved throughout time. Even on the BTCS album they had a few songs they roadtested like pantala naga pampa which was what will become of me at the time, or dont drink the water which was called leave me praying. They evolved into the classics that they are today. I love all the songs of 06 and 04 but i do agree that i wouldn't want a whole cd of just these songs. i want to listen to stuff i never heard in my life. I think they should put some of the songs on it, and save some for there next album after that. it worked for under the table and dreaming and Crash. Both had songs he always played before he was known and both kick major ass, but thats what i think

what about Crazy -Easy ? I want that back(the lyrics were never set and straight forward ,but the jam was fucking awesome), I absolutley was devistated that GGT and Sugarwill crazy easy didn't make or shape stand up in anyway ...To be honest that probably led to my not digging "Stand Up".The 06 songs are deffinetly worthy though,in my opinion.Yet I really fell in love with the feel of the 04 tracks that got nowhere!.I think the vast majority of dmb fans did.The only newer songs I really love as much of the 04's is KILL THE KING and BREAK FREE They are awesome!!!. The others I have to come around to more often

There is nothing wrong with you, maybe you just don't prefer the very dark stuff. There is an interesting story line with the lyrics between the first and second version of Shotgun. Dave does that with a lot of songs. He hits the same story from two angles. That's what makes it interesting to me and I like the music.

WOW, I can't believe Sugar Will is lagging. I used to hate that song now I wish it would make a come back. And while Joyride was a good song....the message is outdated now...I could stand to loss it. Besides we have the Stand Up Bonus Disc for a studio version.

I chose everything but Can't Stop

I was surprised to see that Sister had the fewest votes, when its one of my favorite songs...Did alot of people leave this off because they'd rather it be on a Dave Solo album? Because I think this song is so beautiful that it needs to make a CD somewhere, whether its a DMB or Dave Solo.

i really hope they dont use all of the songs from the summer of 04 or 06, yes all the songs are great, but i want to be surprisef, i dont want to know every song on the album before it comes out. i want to hear something dave never played before, remember that feeling when you first heard idea of you or shotgun. you thought wow what a good song, now you love it. i want to hear songs like that on the new album, i want to have that feeling before i fall in love with the song. eventually i would want all the songs on an album but not all at once, maybe keep like 4 or 5 of the songs. i love them but dont throw all the songs at once to us, spread them out a bit, still play them live, the ones that dont make the album cut, but save them for another album, thats whay i say

I agree and disagree... take Stand Up for example. In 2004, they road tested Joyride, Sugar Will, Good Good Time, Crazy Easy and Hello Again. Only Hello Again made it on the album, and the rest of Stand Up is mediocre in alot of people's opinion (although, the Stand Up songs being played on this tour sound a helluva lot better than they did in 2005). I thought those other four songs were amazing and alot better than anything on Stand Up.

But at the same time, I get you for sure. I think they should take maybe about half from that list and put them on the album, and maybe like you said, play the others live or put it on an album later.

I would pick Sugar Will, Break Free, Idea of You and Good Good Time for sure. Maybe Crazy Easy too (which isn't even on the poll, by the way)

hold it! you're not taking into acount that ELEVEN is the perfect number of songs on an album, tho 12 can be very acceptable, as can ten.

yea it sucks what happened to stand up, but i was thinking about like what they did in crash, they had two step trippin billies, drive in drive out and they didn't put it on the UTTAD. but i see your point as well, idk i just hope Mark doesnt screw this cd up because it looks like it can be great. i would pick Idea of you, shotgun, crazy easy, break free, and prolly thats it, maybe can't stop as like an intro or something. i love ayhee but i would put it with a dave solo, if he comes out with another

ok, we all saw in summer 04 some new songs such as hello again, sugarwill, crazyeasy, and joyride...turns out that only hello again made the cut to stand up yet all of these songs are really good in my opinion....what i want to know is that since mark batson is producing the next studio album do you think they will throw away some of the road tested songs that have been played all summer and sound really good such as idea of you. break free, cant stop, kill the king, and shotgun?

Thanks, I'm truly blessed. No need to fear everybody, this doesn't strike me as a Foley-ish exchange.

Any way the poll can be run again, now that the summer tour is over? Maybe a pick 4, no "all of the above" option poll. I just love voting.

I love the Dave Matthews Band, But Stand Up was nothing like the Dave Matthews Band I know, it felt like there were too many filler songs, and every song was so repetitive, American Baby, Stand Up , Dreamgirl, repeats and repeats...

That is why I love the new songs and i pray it is on the next album

1. Joy Ride (perfect opener like So Much to Say type of opener)
2. Unheard song (not a filler)
3. The Idea of You
4. Break Free
5. Unheard song (not a filler)
6. Kill the King
7. Unheard Song (not a filler, spoil us Dave)
8. Can't Stop
9. Sugar Will
10. Help Myself (imagine)
11. Shotgun (love this song, strong but simple and davelike)
12. Sister (solo or band, its reminds me of I'll Back You Up nice closer)

All these songs should be done on a studio album

I know for a fact i am asking for way too much when i say, stop making filler songs, work a little longer, harder, better songs could have been put in the slot of You Might Die Trying, and Out of my Hands, nice songs, but you have to understand where i am coming from,

P.S. what about Help Myself? A surprise?
