View Full Version : What's Your Profession?

since today was a rainy day and I have been on this board off and on today instead of the usual once or twice a day. And so if you care to share what you do for a living and if you like it or not. And if this isnt what you want to do for the rest of your life then share what you want to do.

For me I'm a paver. I have been doing it for the past 5 years off and on.. I have been steady for the past year. We pave driveways and we have a contract for the Gas company here. There Keyspan aka Boston Gas. Now I work with guys who are like family.. But to me its not what I want to do for the rest of my life. I really enjoy business. I want to one day run a franchise business. I would like to get into Walgreens or a CVS. But If I could ever open up and run a Mc Donalds or a BK. Then I would jump on the chance for that. My uncle owns his own McDonalds in FLorida. (tampa area) and all he does is Make schedule, visit the store a few times a week, hands out pay and goes golfing alot. You really make a killing working in a fast food place. Personally I cant stand eating those places.

So what do you do or want to do?

PS. i plan on retiring by 60. Hopefully.

I'm an Administrative Assistant for a mortgage company or as known at the office I'm a babysiter for grown ups. It's a good way to get into the mortgage business but for me I think I'm just killing time. I've always wanted to be a child psychologist but I haven't made it to college as of yet. Gotta get all those stupid "I just turned 18" credit cards payed off first!

i am a psychiatric technician. i work for the state of california in a locked down facility. i take care of people who are developmentally disabled as well as mentally ill. in order for them to reside in the facility that i work, they must be dually diagnosed with those two disorders. my work gets very interesting, it is never the same two days in a row. at times it can get VERY violent. i just got off of limited duty two days ago. i was attacked by a 6' tall woman who out of no where grabbed a hand full of my hair, flopped me around like a rag doll, and hit me full force in the head with her fist about 7 times, and there was nothing i could do, since retaliation would get me fired and i would lose my lisence. other days, it is a lot of fun. i have taken them camping, to marine world and to several theatrical plays. it just depends on the day i guess....

i'm an electrical engineer at honeywell. we're contractors for NASA and i currently work out of goddard space flight center in maryland. we support various things ...um, yeah....right now i'm just chillin in my building because i don't have anything specific to do. i spend my days hanging out with other engineers/programmers/etc and yeah, that's about it. i'm the new kid in the office - i say kid cause i'm def one of the youngest people there, actually i think there's only 1 person younger than me - and one of maybe 5 females in the entire building. i get to do lots of random stuff so it's fun!

You know, I DO have room for an administrative assistant here, but I heard that your job title was changed a few weeks ago....what was it again?? You'd have to move away from that Oasis you call Atlanta though, and it doesn't sound like you're heading this way.....sorry! :feelbette

Just find a great nude beach and you won't have to worry about bathing suits! And don't forget my invite above ALL things!

Yeah, NE just isn't the most attractive places to anyone that enjoys scenery or things to do. But believe it or not, it CAN be a good place to live....a LOT more laid back than the coasts.

so Tuesday at work everything possible went wrong.. we found out this guy had a broken sespool (sp?) under his driveway. we started to dig it up and there was massive water puddles in the clay and other nasty stuff. and today we get back there and the water has doubled its size. My truck started losing break fluid. I was stuck in traffic for 30 minutes because a 20 year old girl was afraid to get out of her car on a side road i needed to take. Which i later found out she was afriand to go home and tell her parents she got in a car accident. Then after that I go to my softball game and we lose by 3 runs. And I have to get up again at 5 am! Goodnight
