You can check your state treasury web site for unclaimed property.

Or go to http://www.missingmoney.com/Main/Index.cfm (not all states are using this site) to see if your name is on a list. You'll want to check all the states you've lived in. If they owe you cash they hold onto it forever it there holding onto land or property they hold it for five years. If you come across your name or perhaps decesed relative there are claim forms to get your cash back!!!!! Did you invest in some stocks and forget about it? Pay a deposit on a utility and never get the deposit back? Check and see...you never know!

Me neither actually....the woman who was on the news (from Il state treasury) said their state was sitting on about 1 billion in owed money...she said that's one in eight people...I tried about 15 relatives and nothing.

Nothing for me either. But there's another guy with my name (even though my last name's pretty uncommon) who lives in the suburb of Dallas I do who's owed under $100. Different address though.

Here (http://www.window.state.tx.us/up/) is the one for Texas, which probably doesn't affect any of you guys. But I did find $196 for my uncle, plus $66 for a friend of my parents. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you should be writing a paper.
