a guy paraglided today from argentina to chile across the Andes.....pretty amazing, as it's been tried before but no one's ever managed it....i just heard about it on the italian news channel but it'll probably be in the papers tomorrow......if anyone finds any news links about it, post em here....

so what is the difference between paragliding and hangliding? I went hangliding in the Andes *once.* Holy moly, can't imagine how his trip was. Those mountains are mind boggling.

Paragliding is in the 'seated' position and is just with a parachute type of set up, whereas handgliding has the rigid set up and is more of a laying position.

SO sayeth my ignorant handbook called 'my mind' :)

wouldnt catch me dead in one of those contraptions. one wrong gust and you belong to the mountains
