Too much was played before dream girl. per Nancies.org.

When i was at the NY Times Talk interview Dave said they have some tunes that they like to play because its the same every nite theres not variation...its like one of those ones where they dont have to think, and they can just bang out...almost like resting. WAYG is one of the ones he used as an example.

For those who have DirectTv, on July 4th, channel 124, DMB storytellers will be shown. Im not sure if it's the whole show but it will be 58 minutes long.
Here's what they said about it.
A DIRECTV FREEVIEW exclusive premiere! Share an up-close evening with the Dave Matthews Band in this "VH1 Storytellers" special taped at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. FREE to all TOTAL CHOICE programming customers.
I will be recording this on my DVD recorder but not sure if I will be able to get it on my site in a timely manner as my laptop is in the shop for repairs. However, I will do my best!

If by now you have not heard it already storytellers 2005 is being posted in the mp3 section of wds Here (http://www.weeklydavespeak.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2828), What did you all who have heard/scene Storytellers 2k5 think of it? What did you like? What didn't you like? I think ST2k5 left off where the Stand UP video left off, showing that the band is really in a place to be back on track for creating new and exciting music. I feel every date they play will help them look back at their stuff they did not release and maybe road test that later this year/fall tour (rumors speculated only:boings: of course) maybe not. In either case they are back to a happy place, "think about your happy place" anyways, and i would not be surprised if we will be looking at something new next year from them. thats M.O.
The part I enjoyed the most was when they talked about the setlists and how they thought about each other as in health wise, if they could handle certain sets. I just thought the was funny:biggrin:

i liked dave's hardcore screaming at the end of Steady As We Go and how when dave was asked how they picked songs, he just goes "eh? nah...eh? nah... if i put this one will leroi be pissed at me?" haha he's hilarious
but i really didn't like how they interrupted a bunch of the songs/jam sessions for the interviews! it would've been cooler if they played all the songs then put the interviews at the end, would have made it longer too :-D

I loved this show. Very very cool. I got a chance to get the vid and it makes it. I also, and have stated in other threads, Dave's wailing at the end of Steady As We Go is awesome. Fans screaming and roaring as he wails. In the video, you can really get a good idea of how much emotion he put into that part.
One thing I didn't really get.....http://weeklydavespeak.com/forums/images/smilies/screwy.gif
One of the questions was like, " Dave when you wrote the lyrics to Crush, did the person you wrote the lyrics about know they were about her? "
Didn't Dave explain that in his first Storytellers with Tim?http://weeklydavespeak.com/forums/images/smilies/confused2.gifhttp://weeklydavespeak.com/forums/images/smilies/confused2.gif

Yep he did
"What can you say about Crush? Crush is um about the fun part of love. (Clears throat) Its about worship of women thats what its about particularly a women of mine. My girlfriends head was floating above me when i was writing the lyrics to that song, its just right there. I was thinking who am i gonna look at/ what picture can think of/ what can i say n whooop! Im right here, you best right this song about me boy...Atleast thats what i say  ......"

Yep. This goes to show that someone from the Storytellers staff didn't do their homework. What a brutal mistake to repeat the same question.
Either the fan who was asking the question or someone in the show production staff should have realized that was a repeat. :thumbsdow

Havent watched it in a while...but couple things I didnt like that I remembered. Concerning the format, I didnt like how they threw the interviews in...and I wished it was more of a varied setlist, but this what, back in May or something, so album had just come out, completely understandable. thought it was okay overall...I've only watched it twice thus far

It wasn't bad. There was too much new, too less old, but hey, that's always going to happen, isn't it.
I remember seeing him twice in London in one of the most intimate concerts ever. He was on his own, and amazing.
Anyone managed to get a hold of it on DVD?
Thanks,

I was over on the searching DMB in HD on google and came across this (http://www.bassplayer.com/article/mtv-networks-mhd/apr-07/27292). It's towards the bottom starting in the paragraph "Launched in January 2006" and it talks about storytellers being shown in HD. Does anyone have MTV HD? Anyone know any more about this?

DirecTV is now showing MHD. The Storytellers episode is the full band one after Stand Up's release. It looks very nice in HD.
Julie56
10-09-2007, 09:27 AM
We also have MTV HD through our digital cable company. Zamboni is correct that this Storytellers looks amazing in HD. You can count the beads of sweat on Dave's forehead, if you were so inclined.
I suppose the station doesn't yet have a huge catalog of HD performances as it seems the same select shows play over and over. The DMB Storytellers is on several times a week. Not that I'm complaining....

It is nothing incredible with respect to the boys, but if those who remember their first time watching HD, it is a whole new experience watching your first sporting event in HD, I would say it is equally as incredible watching DMB jam in 1080i for the first time.
Not to mention, I always find it interesting/fun to watch the band do things off the stage cause I feel like it shows you a little extra about who they are, and storytellers definetly lets you experience that.

I dont know what setup they used at the bowl, but all the shows I went to this summer featured 3 vertically oriented HD screens, and yes it was incredible to see.
I dont get MTV HD yet.
I didn't think I got it at first either, but flip through your guide and look closely, the actual channel is called "MHD". If you really don't get it, call your provider, cause I know it is free with some HD subscriptions (Comcast and DirecTV) and I would say it is worth the phone call and not only because it features DMBHD.

Do you mean off the DVR as in transfer to another medium?
With my cable company, I was told that the only option at this time for transferring from DVR is to record the program on to a VCR tape. I was also told that (at least in my area...not sure if it the same for all) that in time there would be an option to burn to a disk, if you had a DVD player with a burner.

I just watched the newest Storytellers again on my DVR and watching it made me realize that LeRoi expresses subtle hostility towards Dave and the band, but especially Dave. Roi says during one of the "sit-downs" that he's always enjoyed the music aspect of being on the road but gets tired of "all the bullshit" {outside of the music}. And looking at Dave almost every time when Roi speaks it seems he's cowering and intimated almost of Roi. And Dave even says during it that "some songs he's worried about adding to a show's setlist b/c Roi might get mad." Those of you that have seen it, did you pick up on that too? Maybe Kim and Jeff or other members of the Road Crew can give some thoughts to this too.

I've seen it about 2,324 times now :) or at least it seems that much since it's awesome in HD...anyway
I know what you are saying, and never really thought about it from that point of view. He does point out ticking him off during the set list amost to the extreme that he wants to,,,I just thought he was kidding but maybe not.

That's how I saw it, as well. I assumed by "bullshit" Roi meant riding for hours on a bus, dealing with obsessive fans, staying in hotels ... that kind of thing.
I noticed he didn't talk as much as the others during the interview segments, but isn't he one of the quieter members of the band?
Is there any other evidence he and Dave don't get along? DaveHead has me kind of freaked out now ...
