so Tom Cruise is now dating Katie Holmes:fluff: What do ya'll think of that? Does age matter? does it matter which gender is older?i am curious since i am 30 dating a 21 year old....

I think it all really depends on your personality and that of your significant other. If you are both at the same "maturity" level, and by that I simply mean your are both on the same page in life, it's all good. In fact, many people from both genders often look to an age where they may find character traits that are compatible with their own personality. In the past it seemed it was mostly women looking for older more responsible men, but in today's world we are all over the place, so no I don't think it matters who's older.

...keep the big door open everyone will come around to the shocking news of these two getting together. i agree with what dave L said if ur on the same level then age should not matter, once you get out of high school and move on with your life age is not a big deal however if someone was 25 and seeing a 15 year old then you need to notify someone

My longer lasting relationships have always been with men 6-15 years older.

I am a fan of older men myself. I am 23 and my boyfriend is 32. Our chemistry is hot and we get along soo well. I really dont think age has anything to do with it when it comes to mature successful consenting adults. Plus Katie Holmes is such a cutie, and they look great, and happy:popcorn:

I think society is much more tolerant of older men and younger women than the other way around. What about Demi and her boy toy?? I'm single and am frequently asked out by older men. Not usually attracted, but people seem to think I should be "desperate" enough to go out with them. But when I show interest in a younger man, the gossip at work flies!! Seems like a double standard to me!

It makes no difference who you are or what gender you are....Go with what you feel. People only get freaked out about young men/older women because we've always been taught that it should be the other way around. If you have chemistry and you get along and can have an actual conversation about something other than video games etc. you're good

so it has to be other than video games? damn! j/k, well said heather

I agree with the majority of people here. IF it makes you happy, do it. However, there should be SOME limits. Anna Nicole Smith's ex? YUCKY!!:screwy:

He she could have really loved him....in a great grandfather kinda way...lol. Seriously though, you could tell she was playing him big time. Maybe she just felt sorry for him though and it's not that she's a money grubbing whore.

I do think she made his last years very happy ones. If he was cool with it, who are we to judge it?

I'm not sure what my opinion is on this matter...I've always dated girls 2-3 years younger than myself. My ex of 3 years however rebounded to a guy 10 years older than her (shes 18 and he is 28)...now in a case like this I have to assume that either this WONT work out, or he is increbibly immature for a 28 year old. I say this because even with our 2 year age difference, there was a definate maturity issue, and it was clearly apparent, especially when it came to opening up about emotions and talking through our problems (she would become a closed book)

So I guess it does depend on where the two people are on an emotional level. Just be weary of the rebound!!!

I agree, Brandon. Age often isn't the issue...compatability is...being on the same level emotionally, spiritually, etc. That's what makes a relationship work...not age.

Yeah, I've always been much more into older men. In fact, it would take a whole lot for me to get into a younger guy.

I was watching CNN this morning for my news fix and saw a preview of a new show coming out called "The Girls Next Door" (premiering 9 p.m. EDT Sunday on E!), an eight-part series that promises to introduce viewers to "the secret side of an American legend." Yep, you guessed it, Hugh Hefner gets into bed with reality tv! The show is about Hugh and his 3 official G.O.F. -- Girlfriends of Hef! They are Holly Madison, 25, Bridget Marquardt, 31, and Kendra Wilkinson, 20. If you add their ages up, it comes to 76, which isn't far from Hugh's age!! He is almost 80 years old! Girls, could you imagine doing an 80 year old man at your age now????? That is just :screwy:!!!!!

I personally thought he looked ridiculous with his 3 G.O.F.! He would look that way with just one, but no, he had to go get 3 of them! Hey PtDragon, is Hugh Hefner your true identity???? I heard you liked 3 somes!

Did anyone watch that 'The Girls Next Door' show last night? I made it about 10 min into it before I passed out but from what I saw of it.... looks sorta ******ed. Not that I was surprised or was expecting any big revelations that their lives are more normal than perceived but....whatever floats your boat I guess. I just dont understand the attraction to living with an almost 80 yr old man. Regardless of how rich he is.
